Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion refers to a cosmetic procedure in which the strateum corneum (dead, outermost surface of the skin) is partially or completely removed by light abrasion to remove sun-damaged skin.  The procedure is not painful and requires no anesthetic.

Microdermabrasion can also be used for treatment of acne, but must be repeated periodically to be effective. Microdermabrasion cannot be used on patients who have taken the medication Accutane in the previous twelve months.

At Corner Cottage Skin Care, I use either dermaplane, dermfile or a diamond microdermabrasion unit depending on the client’s unique needs. After thoroughly cleansing the skin, the microdermabrasion unit is used in the exfoliation process when a diamond tipped head makes contact with the skin, abrades against it and the dead skin cells are withdrawn away from the face using mild suction.

Corner Cottage will use either microdermabrasion or Dermafile treatment depending on individual skin condition.
